Fireside Lodge Weekly Fishing Report

2007 Pre-Season Fireside Lodge Report, From Northwest Ontario

2007 Pre-Season Fireside Lodge Report, From Northwest Ontario

Hello everyone and hope all are well and survived the winter months. Audrey and I had a wonderful winter and so far it has been a very nice spring. We skied a lot this winter and broke our personal best and skate skied all the way to Cedarbough Creek and back. Ice just went out on May 3rd which is 14 days later than 2006 and only a few days early, with normal ice out being between May 5t to the 7th. As usual the Bald Eagle was the first to arrive in March, and the Sand Hill Cranes were spotted flying over Fireside Lodge headed towards Hudson Bay about April 18th. Frog night was on April 21st. Frog night is when all of a sudden all the Frogs emerge from hibernation and the evening and night silence is broken with the very loud singing and crooking of thousands of frogs. Don’t look for anyone else to know what Frog night is or expect to find this happening in any wildlife reference book, as it is a name that Audrey and I have created from this natural happening. By now the loons and every migratory bird is back and can be heard as a natural background music everywhere at all times, and the lapping of water against the shoreline sounds calming and reassuring that the open water season is here for 2007. We have been busy scurrying around and getting prepared for our 18th season, which is just as exciting as our first in spring of 1990. We have also been working on a few new projects some that will be visible to all, and a few not so visible. I want to thank all of those who supplied us with hundreds of photos while staying at Fireside Lodge in 2006. In fact we had so many pictures I had to make two different placemats this year because it was impossible to fit one picture of every person on one placemat. Good news is we can a least see the lake map again, so we can discuss those hot fishing spots right at your dining room table. If you want to view some of the 2006, or 2005, or 2004 back to 1999 fishing photos just go to our website at http://www.firesidelodge.com and go to the corresponding pages. Remember for those of you who cannot make a fishing trip to Fireside Lodge in 2007 I will be posting photos weekly under a page headed 2007 Weekly Photos, and I will also be posting weekly fishing Reports under the Current Happenings Page. Past years reports can also be viewed on this page. For those who caught Master Anglers Award fish in 2006 they received new and improved Master Anglers Award certificates in the mail. We had a very positive response to the certificate being a quality photo of the lodge. We will have one on display in the lodge for all to see.
Audrey and I want to take a moment to again thank all of our guests over the past 17 years which have made our dream of owning an operating a fishing lodge in Canada come true, and to have made it possible to be as excited about starting our 18th season as our first year. After all it is the Fireside Lodge guests which make Fireside Lodge come alive with happenings of all sorts like, fishing, wild life experiences, fish stories, laughter, conversation, celebrating special moments, and everything else that goes on at Fireside Lodge. Thanks you all very much, and looking very forward to seeing all who are returning to Fireside Lodge in 2007. For those who are not please stay in touch through our website or by email. Also for those who are still considering a trip to Fireside Lodge in 2007 we still have some availability left at certain times, and just email us at fireside@xplornet.com or call 800-545-0815.
Audrey and I wish everyone the very best in their life and the pursuit of happiness, and hope to see you at Fireside Lodge one day to help add to your memory log.
Alan & Audrey Brandys / Fireside Lodge
